Thursday Headlines: Summer Walk-on Transfer Portal Edition
In the new world of college athletics following the House settlement, things are much different.
The revenue-sharing era got underway this week, and the House settlement is leading to a new walk-on transfer portal.
The NCAA Committee on Legislative Relief announced that it is issuing a waiver to allow athletes that programs place on the โDesignated Student-Athleteโ list to enter a newly-created transfer portal that opens on Monday, July 7 and runs through August 5.
Those players who are tagged by a school as a โDesignated Student-Athleteโ would have been cut from the roster if the roster limits proposed in the House settlement immediately went into play.
Players currently on scholarship will not be allowed to transfer in this window.
This transfer portal wonโt play a huge role on rosters, but there will likely be a lot of players that take advantage of this decision and decide to look around at their options.
Whoโs ready for the summer transfer portal?
